Discover Sadowsky basses

Posted on: Thursday 07 October 2021

Created in 1979 by Roger Sadowsky, the basses of the same name quickly became essential in the modern “bassistic” landscape.
The starting concept was to improve the traditional Fender Jazz and Precision Bass by keeping a simple but high quality instrument (with a “Chambered” body for more lightness) and by adding active electronics (the famous Sadowsky preamp) ) as well as microphones designed to eliminate interference (Hum-Canceling). The NYC (New York City) range was born.

Modern, deep and punchy sound

The result is bass that provides a modern sound, deep and punchy at the same time, which means that they can be found in many musical styles.
Quickly, professional musicians like Marcus Miller, Oscar Cartaya, Will Lee, Greg lake, Jason Newsted, Tal Wilkenfeld, Jimmy Earl, Verdine White or even the French Jannick Top (France Gall, Michel Berger, Magma, Francis Cabrel …) adopted the concept and the typical sound of these basses made across the Atlantic.

The Metroline range

Later, part of the production (the Metroline range ) will be done in Japan by Yoshi Kikuchi and his team. This will make it possible to offer more affordable instruments but with a constant concern for quality and playability. From there, the brand will really become essential for all bassists, professionals or amateurs and the models multiply: NYC, Metroline, Standard, Vintage, Modern, Custom Shop, from 20 to 24 frets, as well as the Verdine signature models White or Will Lee (the latter offering an improved preamp with the addition of a medium frequency control). The original preamp is adorned with a tone operating in active and passive.

A high quality violin

The high-quality violin, the precise and modern sound, the impressive playability as well as the attention to detail that makes the musician’s life easier, all this is an integral part of the brand’s identity.
Today manufactured by Warwick with the same degree of requirement, Sadowsky basses are always at the top and have not lost any of their intrinsic qualities.

The Metro Express range

A new Metro Express range has also just appeared, allowing beginner bass players to play on an affordable and particularly high-quality instrument. The onboard preamp remains the same as the one installed on the first basses with a volume, a balance, a bass and treble adjustment and an active / passive push / pull.
There is also the legendary preamp in Inboard version (ideal for customizing your Jazz Bass) or Outboard (allowing it to be used with any instrument) as well as strings perfectly suited to the different bass models.
