Biography

“Lively and eloquent” musician (Diapason), “perfect stylist” with “jubilant and orchestral” playing (Classica), Christian Chamorel is one of the rare Swiss French-speaking pianists whose influence extends beyond the borders of the country. Its commitment to lied and chamber music makes it a highly sought-after artistic partner, with the added bonus of a keen sense of sharing and communication hailed by all audiences. Guest of prestigious festivals (Menuhin Festival, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in Switzerland, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommen, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Schloss Elmau in Germany, Musicales du Golfe, Lisztomanias, Menton Music Festival in France, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti à Rome), he also performs in the United States, Canada, at the NCPA in Beijing, at the Musashino Hall and Kioi Hall in Tokyo, at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, in  the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Victoria Hall in Geneva. Winner of several international competitions (“Gian Battista Viotti”  to  Vercelli, Beethoven of Vienna, Société des Arts de Genève), he plays with phalanges such as the Friborg Chamber Orchestra, the Berne Symphony Orchestra, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Menuhin Academy Soloists or the Frankfurter Solisten . His recordings dedicated to  Liszt, Mendelssohn, Franck and recently Mozart have been hailed by the international press, with two nominations as best CD of the year at the “International Classical Music Awards”. Christian Chamorel also joins forces with many internationally renowned instrumentalists and singers such as the Sine Nomine quartet, the pianist Finghin Collins, the mezzo-sopranos Marie-Claude Chappuis and Karine Deshayes, the baritone Benjamin Appl and the violinist Rachel Kolly d ‘ Alba with whom he forms a duo.
