The Chau Gongs, also called Tam-Tams, are one of the most familiar Chinese gongs. The Chau Gong produces a complete and sustained wash of musical harmonics. It is a centerpiece at home, in the office, in a concert hall or outdoors.
The Chau Gong has a rim around the outer edge with a very distinctive bull's eye in the center. You can play it in the center, in the middle, on the edges or experiment with a variety of sounds.
Made from B20 cast bronze (80% copper and 20% tin), the gong is hammered and turned by hand while heating and cooling the metal.
The Chau Gongs are available in a range of sizes (4 '' - 80 ''), each size having its own distinct sound.
