Evoking the flow of water or the rain, the rain sticks have an obvious poetic dimension, they are often used to create atmospheres.
Some storytellers use it as a ritual sound object.
Just hold the rain stick vertically and then turn it around like an hourglass to reproduce the sound of rain. To give a realistic effect of rain, several sticks, of varying sizes, are used. The larger ones produce a deep, muffled sound, while the smaller rainsticks have a drier and higher pitch. You can also shake the stick or tilt it more or less depending on the desired effect.
