The specialist's opinion
The new DSM & Humboldt SIMPLIFIER Bass Station is everything you ever needed to go straight to the PA or record without sacrificing sound quality.
It includes a bass preamp with gain, level and a 3-band EQ with semi-parametric midrange control.
A parallel signal routing with a selectable LPF, a dual FX loop (for the preamp and the parallel signal), and an astonishing analog cabinet simulation, based on the famous Omnicabsim ® from DSM Noisemaker. The pre-amplification stage is based on the Ampeg SVT ®. This amp stands out for its personality, versatility and articulation. Including its flexible EQ with + - 15dB per band, and the switchable midrange of 400-900-1500Hz. On most gain settings, the amp is tight and clear. But with higher gains, it will growl and growl like a real Ampeg SVT does. The SIMPLIFIER BASS STATION splits the input signal for a parallel line, bypassing the preamp, and including a switchable low pass filter (100Hz, Off, 500Hz). The effect of mixing this clean signal with the tone of the preamp allows you to overload the preamp while retaining enormous bass response and natural dynamics. The cabinet simulation has been carefully designed to achieve the most distinctive cabinet sounds. An 8x10 Closed Back, with its tight and punchy bass. A ventilated 1x15 for warm, creamy mids and thick lows, and a ventilated 4x10 for a more open and wide response. The speaker color switcher, Warm, Bright, and Modern, simulates the different materials and geometries of bass drivers, affecting dynamics and midrange response. And with the Resonance and Mic position controls, you can set the exact level of treble brightness and subwoofer resonance you want. Finally, the SIMPLIFIER BASS STATION is the first to include TWO effects loops, allowing you to use different effects on the main signal (preamp) and on the parallel signal chain. The possibilities are endless. Try a compressor for the parallel signal, and a chorus on the preamp; or a delay that only repeats the low end, or even a volume pedal to control the parallel mix in real time. Use your imagination to achieve never-before-heard bass sounds!
