The specialist's opinion
The J.
Rockett Audio Design Airchild Six Sixty Compressor is the sonic reinterpretation of the famous vintage studio compressor 660, consistently regarded as the best compressor ever made.
The typical iconic guitar compressor has created some very recognizable sounds throughout the history of music, especially country music. Believing that there were already too many clones of this legendary circuit with few other variants available, J. Rockett gives us his version here. The typical Iconic circuit tends to crush the sound more like a limiter, but has cemented that sound into certain genres of music as well, which makes for a great sound if you want it to. With the Airchild, J. Rockett wants to offer a compressor that works like a studio compressor, which improves harmonic richness and standardizes transients without crushing the entire spectrum.
