The specialist's opinion
Roger Mayer is THE technician who invented distortion and particularly the FUZZ in the 60s.
"The Spitfire was deliberately designed to produce a classic tube-type distortion, particularly rich in harmonics, very musical and pleasant to the ear.
This essentially means that the chords can be used at high levels of distortion without sounding hoarse or downright mean, as would be the case with other types of fuzz boxes. The Spitfire retains the original sonic characteristics of the guitar with a open sound, details and a sonic heritage that originate in my association with the making of Jimi's recordings. "
