The specialist's opinion
In 1973, Craig Anderton and John Lang, two effects legends, launched Seamoon Inc.
and released their flagship fuzz pedal the same year: the Fresh Fuzz.
Originally, a faulty case design caused these Bakelite plastic pedals to burst when guitarists stomped on them, so Seamoon began to recreate them in metal cases within a matter of months. Despite inaccurate reviews that the Fresh Fuzz had a "thin tone," it gained popularity and was widely used by artists such as Tom Scholz (Boston) and virtuoso guitarist Eric Johnson. The JHS Berkley is a tribute to the rarer version of the 741 single op amp (Version 1).
