Catalinbread Valcoder
Item No. : 174122
The specialist's opinion
The Valcoder uses a discrete analog LFO circuit inspired by the Valcro tube tremolo of the 60s.
The Valco company of Chicago manufactured amplifiers under its own name in addition to manufacturing amps for other companies such as Supro or Gretsch.
Most of them were low wattage amps with excellent natural tube breakage and many models also featured a single tube tremolo. He had a hypnotic pulse and was also capable of a hard, jerky tremolo. Combined with the saturated breaking characteristics of the amplifier, this created a very inspiring percussive rhythmic pulse to play.
