Kawai only uses quarter-sawn, straight-grain solid spruce to make its soundboards. The piano therefore benefits from a rich and bright tone. Kawai's advanced Millennium III mechanics incorporate high-tech materials like ABS resin alloy with carbon fiber. Thanks to these carbon-ABS parts, the mechanics are more resistant and less prone to loss of performance over time, while offering superior response and control. This piano also benefits from the "Soft Fall" cylinder retarder system: A damper mechanism prevents the keyboard cylinder from falling suddenly and therefore eliminates any risk of injury or material damage.
