The specialist's opinion
Acclaimed composer during his lifetime, Fernand de La Tombelle spent a long period of Purgatory to come back to the light for several years.
Organist, pianist, teacher, poet, photographer, painter, astronomer, car enthusiast and skilled cyclist in his spare time, he was a student and friend of Guilmant, Dubois and Saint-Saëns.
We owe him an active participation in the creation of the Trocadéro concerts or in the founding of the Schola Cantorum. He leaves us a considerable musical catalog covering all genres. The Epithalame for violin and piano (or organ), whose title refers to the nuptial lyric poem sung in honor of young spouses in ancient Greece, is a perfect example of his chamber music.
