Very similar to the Arab Nay, the Turkish Ney also has a mouthpiece.
The blast technique however remains the same as the Kaval.
It is the musician who must direct his breath to make the sound. It is played with the instrument slightly at an angle unlike the Iranian Ney. The sound is serious and very smooth.
